“Särimner försöker överleva samtiden” (“Sæhrímnir struggles to survive the modern age”)
My name is Mats Eriksson and I’ve spent 40 years sculpting in materials such as clay, wood, concrete, copper sheet, bronze and more. Over the years I’ve held many solo exhibitions and participated in group exhibitions in Sweden and internationally. In addition, I’ve erected 27 public works, including an equestrian statue with an inqusitive little hare in the saddle, at the entrance to Hudiksvall Hospital.
Outside the police academy sit three statues in deep conversation – the legendary criminals Tumba-Tarzan and Beautiful Bengtsson chatting with Constable Björk. And in Sundsvall, two men stand on a ladder outside the municipal building, peering into the window and wondering what the council members are doing.
